a WWII movie in which two soldiers meet while stationed in the same place. a budding friendship turns into more, and somehow they manage to keep each other going through all the horror, death, and violence of being soldiers in 1944. they hold each other together and keep each other from going insane, from succumbing to the depression of watching friends die every day, and from committing suicide in the field. they become the only things keeping them sane and alive while surrounded by trauma and death.

unfortunately, only one of them makes it home.
